Craig Blackwell Yachts
has been in business since 1986 and is located in North Carolina, USA. Blackwell began building boats in his home in Bay City, Michigan at the age of sixteen. He went on to serve a five year apprenticeship with the Gougeon Brothers (developers of West System Resin), where he learned the fundamentals of lightweight, strong wood and composite construction. Later, he moved to Florida and worked for Monteray Marine where he learned jig building. From there he moved to North Carolina where he resides today. 1986 Craig Blackwell went into business for himself. For three years he primarily worked in repair and in 1988 he established Blackwell Boatworks. Since then, Craig Blackwell Boatworks has built over 60 sportfishing boats ranging from 28’ – 72’, from very simple charter boats to very elaborate yachts.
