was founded by Tom Fexas, who was an innovative yacht designer. Fexas was known for adopting a retro design of the vintage commuter yachts of the 1930s to modern construction techniques. Tom Fexas was from Queens, New York and spent a lot of time on his family’s yacht, as well as watching other boats on the Long Island Sound. He started drawing designs of yachts from a young age and studied marine engineering at SUNY Maritime College. Fexas opened his own yacht design company around 1977 and spent his time designing Midnight Lace. Upon completion of Midnight Lace, he moved to Fort Lauderdale, where his yacht premiered at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show of 1978. Fexas gained notoriety and went into production with builders such as Cheoy Lee, Mikelson and Abeking & Rasmussen. He also wrote articles for magazines and became editor of Power and Motoryacht Magazine. Tom Fexas passed away in 2006, and his yacht design company was then run by his wife, Regina for a while before it closed completely.
