Hinckley Yachts
- a company of firsts – was founded in Southwest Harbor, Maine. Hinckley yachts are semi-custom built in both motor and sailing styles, ranging from 29 feet up to 70 feet in length. In 1928, Henry R. Hinckley started the company with a workboat focus. Today, Hinckley pleasure cruising is produced and serviced in Southwest Harbor and Trenton, Maine, Rhode Island, Maryland, Georgia and Florida. Hinckley pioneered the American transition to Kevlar brand hybrid composites for decks and hulls alike. The Hinckley Company was the initial yacht builder to use the SCRIMP brand process and DualGuard brand composite construction, resulting in sturdier, lighter, and environmentally friendlier laminates. Also, Hinckley was the first to combine jet propulsion into a semi-custom yacht.
