Sea Pro Yachts , which went out of business in 2005 when the boating industry was faltering, has returned with a manufacturing facility in Newberry County, South Carolina. Sea Pro made saltwater sports boats between 17 and 25 feet. They’re back with the “The New Wave,” with the original company ownership investing 5.5 million in the new plant and creating 238 new jobs. Sea Pro is a renowned brand in the boating industry. Originally founded in 1987, Sea Pro Boats, a Midlands-based company, was purchased by Brunswick Corporation in 2005. Recently, Jimmy Hancock, one of the original owners of Sea Pro, along with Tidewater Boats’ founder Preston Wrenn, decided to relaunch the company, planning an all-new incarnation of the Sea Pro brand – ‘The Next Wave.’ The line will feature seven new models, which are expected to be introduced by the end of this summer. Sea Pro’s new facility, a 200,000-square-foot building to be located at 25214 Highway 121 in Whitmire, Newberry County, SC, will house the company’s headquarters, as well as its manufacturing operations.
