have been built by Hake Yachts for over 40 years. Hake Yachts was founded by Nick Hake in 1973 in Stuart, Florida, USA. Hake Yachts were built on the principles of solid construction melded to modern design and technology, strong customer relations, and innovation that continually improves sailing and boat ownership. Seaward Yachts believe their fundamental success is due to their retracting keel system. Their keels enable the boats to set very high standards in sea keeping, sailing comfort, and windward performance, and offer the extreme versatility of being able to sail impressively in big winds and rough water. However, they’re still able to sail over, rather than around, areas of shallow water. With keels tucked all the way up, Seaward boats can put their bows on a quiet beach and you can go ashore without a problem. They’re shaped to provide lift without undue drag. With the ballast weight concentrated low in the lead bulb, they can withstand hard groundings without damage. Another advantage of a lifting keel and rudder is boat speed gained by reducing the boat’s draft (and drag) when keel depth is not required for stability or upwind performance. Seward keels are lifted by a 12 volt electric winch, and adjusted from the cockpit. Every part of the Seaward keel system is overbuilt and designed to be easily and economically maintained by the owner.
