Confused?
The upload photos section will allow you to electronically send photos
that reside on your computer to our website and included
in your listing. This part should NOT be filled in with a web address (URL).
Note: You retain all rights to anything you upload.
On the page you will see text boxes with a browse button next to each one of them.
These text boxes should be filled in with the location of your photos on your computer. Photos must reside on your local computer.
You can either type the path directly if you have knowledge of your computers filesystem or click on the browse button for a dialog box and navigate until you
find the pictures you want to upload. Once the upload process is complete, the
files will be copied from your computer to our web site. This means that your
computer will not have to be connected to the internet for your photos to be viewed.
If you don't know the path, use the browse button
A dialog box is a way to navigate around your local computer to look for things.
Clicking any "browse" button causes a dialog box to appear. Change the file
type to "all files" instead of only HTML files so that all files appear in
the dialog box. It defaults to show you only HTML files which are not photos.
Navigate to the folder where the photo(s) are located, choose the photo you
wish to upload and repeat this process for each photo.
When completed, each box should contain a path to each different photo you
wish to upload. The Photo in the first box will be at the top of your listing,
and photos in the other boxes will appear at the bottom of your listing.
Any boxes left blank will be ignored. You do not have to include all
eight pictures. To start the transfer process, click the continue button to
upload your photos. Once you click the continue button, your files will transfer
to our website. The screen will not change until the transfer is complete.
This may take several minutes. DO NOT click the "Stop" button on your browser or the transfer will be interrupted.
What if my photos are already somewhere out on the internet?
If you have no photos on your local computer, but have some on the internet
you will have to go fetch them first. You can download them to your local
computer and then upload them to our site. To download photos, use your
browser to view the photos, and place the mouse pointer over the photo itself.
Click the right mouse button. A menu will appear. Select
"Save image as" on the menu. This will bring up a dialog box that
will give you a choice of where to save the photo and under what name.
The original name of the photo will appear. You should change it to something
simple using only letters, numbers and dashes. This can be done by clicking in
the area with the filename and changing it. Photos should be saved somewhere
on your computer that you will remember, like on your
desktop. Click the "Save" button to transfer the photo. Once downloaded to
your local computer you can upload to our site. On our upload page, click
the browse button and then go to the location you saved the photos in and select each one, one at a time, clicking browse each time for each photo.
Important note about Thumbnail photos:
Often when viewing a website that contains your photos, a smaller photo will be
displayed and when you click it, a larger copy of the photo will be displayed.
The smaller photo is called a thumbnail. When taking photos
from the internet, make sure you do not save the thumbnail. Click the thumbnail and
save the larger photo, as described above. If you submit the thumbnail to us, it will
show up blurry on your listing.
Captions
Under each photo is a box that will allow you to enter a caption for the photo. This should be a short blurb describing the photo. Changes made to the caption will be updated even if you do not change the photo. Simply change the caption and click continue, then SAVE CHANGES.
Note that for Windows 95, 98, and ME users, your desktop folder is in the WINDOWS folder. For Windows NT, and 2000 users, it is WINNT\Profiles\<your profile>\Desktop.
You should also be able to get to the desktop by clicking on the folder with the arrow pointing up next to the "save in" box until it reads desktop.
